Alan Turing is most famous as a codebreaker, mathematician, and computer scientist. But did you know that later in life, he also made hugely influential discoveries in biology? His theory of Turing patterns is still used by researchers today, including here at the University of Sheffield.

To celebrate Alan Turing becoming the face of the new £50 note, mathematicians at the university have been collaborating with the Bank of England to help school children across the UK crack the code using Alan Turing’s theory of biology.

The Turing Project's work in schools has been featured in media coverage from BBC Bitesize, Yorkshire Post, and the Metro.
